Filming a Colombian drug lab raid

Transported by heavily armed Huey and Blackhawk helicopters, 60 Minutes traveled with Colombian police commandos, called "junglas," and agents from ICE, the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency, on a raid to destroy a drug lab.

The lab is linked to a Colombian cocaine empire known as "the super cartel" -- the most powerful drug trafficking organization in law enforcement history.

60 Minutes was given unprecedented access to the three-year investigation that toppled the cartel.

Once on the ground, the area is assessed for threats including possible booby traps set by cartel workers to thwart raids.

Across streams and through dense vegetation, the junglas lead 60 Minutes toward a crude structure, hidden beneath the jungle canopy.

Coca leaves, seen here, are the source of the cartel's vast fortune. Local farmers soak the leaves with gasoline and toxic chemicals to make unrefined cocaine.

There are thousands of labs like this across Colombia. They're easy to build and easy to conceal.

"You couldn't see it unless you knew it was there," said 60 Minutes cameraman Don Lee, pictured here holding a handful of coca leaves.

The commandos set off a series of explosive charges throughout the makeshift structure.
