"Eco-Goats" to the rescue
Dozens of goats will be used to clear a two-acre plot of land covered with vines, poison ivy and ground cover adjacent to the cemetery where former FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover, photographer Mathew Brady, and former Vice President Elbridge Gerry are buried.
Goats are being used rather than toxic weed killing chemicals, due to the close proximity of the nearby Anacostia River.
The goats will graze 24 hours a day for six days to eliminate vines, poison ivy and weeds, while also "fertilizing the ground."
