The new Walt Disney Concert Hall, designed by renowned architect Frank Gehry, is silhouetted against the twilight sky Oct. 14, 2003, in downtown Los Angeles. The 16-year struggle to build one of the city's most distinctive landmarks officially ended with an Oct. 23 debut concert.
