Deadly earthquake in northwest China

A strong earthquake that shook an arid, hilly farming area in northwest China sparked landslides and destroyed or damaged thousands of brick-and-mud homes.

At least 89 people were killed and five others missing after a 6.6-magnitude earthquake struck on the border of Minxian county and Zhangxian county in Gansu province on Monday morning.
