David Nelson: 1936-2011

In this file photo taken May 9, 1996, on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles, actor and director David Nelson poses with his grandson Michael Woolery and family friend Ashley Holt as he is honored with the 2,065th star. Nelson, who starred on his parents' popular television show, "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet," died in Los Angeles on Jan. 10, 2010. He was 74.

Nelson was the last surviving member of the Nelsons TV family and directed numerous episodes of the long-running series. His film credits include "Peyton Place," "The Big Circus" and "Love and Kisses."

Nelson was the last remaining member of the Nelsons TV family, which included actor/bandleader Ozzie, his singer wife, Harriet Hilliard and his teen idol brother Rick. The show originated on radio in 1952 as "Here Come the Nelsons," then ran for 320 episodes on TV from 1952 to 1966 as "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet" with some of the story lines taken from the stars' own lives.

Actress and singer Harriet Hilliard Nelson, seen here in a 1976 file photo, was David's mother. A 1940s singer, she with her bandleader husband, Ozzie Nelson, were the quintessential role models for parents of the '50s ideal nuclear family. She died in 1994.
