According to the Odessa American: "In an affidavit signed by Williams, he claims he sent $5,000 for school and dental bills, a baseball for Daniels' brother and - as a surprise - a recorded marriage proposal with the ring through the mail just before Valentine's Day to Daniels. However, when Daniels declined the proposal, she did not return the ring."
Brooke's father, Michael Daniels, told the Odesa American that Williams told his daughter he didn't want the ring back, saying he expected her to change her mind. Apparently, she didn't. Daniels says he'll return the ring to avoid the legal hassle.
Williams, who was a standout at Odesa Permian High and the University of Texas before starring with the Detroit Lions and Cowboys, filed the lawsuit June 30 in state district court in Odesa. He declined to comment to the Odesa American.
