Gregory G. Rodriguez, the 43-year-old host of the Sportsman Channel show "A Rifleman's Journal" was shot and killed March 7, 2013 by Wayne Bengston in Whitefish, Montana. Rodriguez was reportedly visiting the 41-year-old Bengston's wife when the shooting took place, police said. After killling Rodriguez, police say Bengston then beat his wife, took his 2-year-old son to a relative's house and drove to his home about 25 miles away in West Glacier, Montana, where he apparently killed himself.
Rodriguez, of Sugar Land, Texas was reportedly in Montana on business and was visiting Bengston's wife at her mother's house in Whitefish when Bengston showed up on March 7, 2013. It was not immediately clear how Rodriguez and the woman were acquainted.
Besides appearing on TV, Rodriguez was the founder and CEO of Global Adventure Outfitters. According to the outfitters' website, he was an editor at Shooting Times Magazine and a contributing editor at Petersen's Hunting, Guns & Ammo and Dangerous Game. He was a mortgage banker before founding Global Adventure Outfitters, and he has hunted in 21 countries, the website says. He has a wife and two children.
