Manhunt ends for escaped NY killers
Law enforcement ended a three-week manhunt for convicted killers David Sweat and Richard Matt, who escaped Clinton Correctional Facility, in New York on June 6, 2015 after killing Matt and capturing Sweat.
Matt was shot and killed by the U.S. Border Patrol tactical unit in Malone, New York on June 26, 2015 and David Sweat was finally taken into custody June 28, 2015. The U.S. Marshals Service had both killers on the "15 Most Wanted" fugitives list.

David Sweat captured
Escaped convict David Sweat was shot and captured June 28, 2015 in Constable, New York, two days after his fellow inmate, Richard Matt was killed while confronting police.
Officials say New York State Police Sgt. Jay Cook shot Sweat in Constable, about 2 miles south of the Canadian border after spotting a suspicion person walking down a road. Sweat was transported to a hospital to be treated for his injuries.

Sweat and Richard Matt staged a brazen escape three weeks ago from a maximum-security prison, Clinton Correctional Facility, in northern New York. His capture came two days after his escape partner, Richard Matt, was shot and killed by authorities.
