Bruce Springsteen takes the stage of the Ed Sullivan Theater Aug. 1 to perform on CBS' "Late Show With David Letterman." "The Boss" told Dave he was happy to have written new songs so that he could go out and perform, which is one of the things he enjoys doing most.

Springsteen said his new album "The Rising," his first with the entire E Street Band since 1984, came together in less than 8 weeks.

Springsteen makes an appearance July 24 at Georgies in Asbury Park, N.J., A New Jersey native who got his start playing in Asbury Park clubs, Springsteen played a boardwalk concert there for thousands of fans July 30 to mark the release of his new album.
