Celebrities who died too young

Ten years ago today, R&B singer and up-and-coming actress Aaliyah died in a plane crash. Her twin-engine Cessna crashed shortly after takeoff. The 22-year-old will always be remembered for her hits like, "Age Ain't Nothing but a Number" and "Are You That Somebody?" Many other stars died before their time. Amy Winehouse

English singer-songwriter Amy Winehouse was just 27 when she passed away earlier this year. The cause of death is still unknown, but illegal drugs have been ruled out. Brittany Murphy

The actress, who first burst on the scene for playing Tai Frasier in "Clueless," died of complications from pneumonia and multiple drug intoxication. She was only 32.

Christopher Lee Rios, known by his stage name Big Punisher or Big Pun, was a Bronx native who rose to fame with Fat Joe. He struggled with his weight his whole life, and ended up suffering a fatal heart attack at the age of 28, weight 698 pounds.

DJ AM

DJ AM, real name Adam Goldstein, died from an apparent drug overdose when he was 36. He was best known for his collaborations with Travis Barker, collaborating with top artists like Jay-Z and Madonna and for being an avid sneakerhead.

Bruce Lee

Bruce Lee fainted during dubbing work for "Enter the Dragon," and was discovered to have found a cerebral edema. He later had the same symptoms around the time of his death, as well as his brain was considered to be considerably swelling.

Heath Ledger

Heath Ledger tragically died at the age of 27 from an accidental prescription drug overdose. He had been in the middle of filming his final movie "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus." Jimi Hendrix

Jimi Hedrix died at 27 from an accidental drug overdose from Vesparax sleeping pills. There have been suspicious occurrences during the time of his death that have some to believe that medical malpractice could have led to his death.

James Dean

James Dean has the first posthumous Academy Award nomination for Best Actor. He died at the age of 24 in a car accident in Salinas, Calif.
