"Bomb cyclone": Mammoth winter storm hits Northeast

A massive winter nor'easter - referred to as a "bombogenesis," or "bomb cyclone" - traveled up the East Coast of the United States, dumping as much as a foot of snow and creating blizzard-like conditions from main to northern Florida. At least 21 deaths have been attributed to the storm, and to a blast of Arctic air that stretched from Maine to Texas.
