Atty. Judy Clarke has defended some of country's most notorious criminals

Attorney Judy Clarke has defended such notorious criminals as Jared Lee Loughner, Susan Smith, and Zacarias Moussaoui, among others. Most recently, she has signed on to the defense team for Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19, accused in the April 15 Boston Marathon bombings.
Jared Lee Loughner
Jared Lee Loughner severely injured former U.S. Representative Gabrielle Giffords when he shot her in the head at a constituents meeting in Arizona in 2011. Six people were killed and 12 others were injured in the attack. Renowned defense attorney Judy Clark defended Loughner, who faced the death penalty. In 2012, he was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Zacarias Moussaoui
Zacarias Moussaoui, who was defended by Judy Clarke, was convicted of helping mastermind the September 11 attacks. He faced the death penalty, but was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Eric Rudolph
Eric Robert Rudolph was charged in the 1996 Olympic Park bombing and in attacks at an abortion clinic and a gay nightclub. Defended by Judy Clarke, he received four consecutive life sentences in place of the death penalty.
Ted Kaczynski
"Unabomber" Ted Kaczynski faced the death penalty, but attorney Judy Clarke spent months convincing him to accept the plea deal that would ultimately save his life, the AP reported.
Susan Smith
Susan Smith was convicted in 1995 of killing her two young sons. Renowned defense attorney Judy Clarke fought to save Smith from the death penalty. Instead, she was sentenced to life in prison.
