She had polio as a teenager and always walked with a crutch. This picture must have been made when she was a teenager. The necklace she is wearing is like one that my mother's mother wore. It had a ruby and a small freshwater pearl dangling from it. When I was eighteen, Mother gave me the necklace. Since it was her mother's, she treasured it."

Pal, who noted "The best description I can give of my brother as I knew him, (near a decade older than I ), was that he loved to whistle, loved creek swimming, a motorcycle, never met an animal that he could not charm, was admired by younger children for his physical strength and his card tricks, and that he NEVER planned to be a farmer or carpenter."
Theodore passed away on April 7, 1960 on the USS Shangri La Carrier, near Santiago, Chile.
