Back-to-back earthquakes measuring 7.0 and 5.8 struck the Anchorage, Alaska area just before 8:30 a.m. local time Friday, Nov. 30, 2018. A tsunami warning was issued but later lifted.
This vehicle was left stranded on a collapsed roadway near the airport after the earthquake.
Earthquake epicenter
According to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the 7.0 magnitude quake was centered about 8 miles (13 km) north of Anchorage, Alaska's largest city, on Cook Inlet along the state's south-central coastline.

Owner Mary Funner says beer, wine and other bottled alcohol was strewn throughout store aisles after the quake. She considered closing Friday until customers began lining up. They were allowed to come in in small groups. "We're still in business, but we're only open only a little bit at a time," she said.
