17 fugitives caught with help of "America's Most Wanted"

FBI "Top Ten Fugitives" and other wanted felons were routinely profiled on the TV show "America's Most Wanted." The FBI credits the capture of these "Top Ten Fugitives" as a direct result of the "America's Most Wanted" broadcasts.

David James Roberts was the first Top Ten Fugitive caught after being featured on "America's Most Wanted." Roberts was arrested in Staten Island, N.Y., on February 11, 1988. He was located in an apartment after hiding for four days after he had seen himself on the show.

Jack Darrell Farmer

Arrested in Lantana, Fla., June 1, 1988. He was recognized by a co-worker who called into the show's tip line. Farmer, who cops say led a dangerous Chicago gang, was a fugitive for 13 months but only on the FBI's list for three days.

Steven Ray Stout

Arrested by FBI agents in Gulfport, Miss., December 6, 1988. Stout had strangled and stabbed to death his former mother-in-law and one of her daughters.

Stanley Faison

Arrested in Detroit, Mich., December 24, 1988 by FBI and local police. Faison was being sought for the murder of a man, whose girlfriend he'd earlier beaten with a tire iron.

Roger Lee Jones

Arrested March 3, 1989 in Butte, Mont., by the Butte Silver Bow Sheriff

Pedro Luis Estrada

Arrested by FBI agents at his home in Harrisburg, Penn., October 1, 1989. He was being sought on three counts of homicide in New York.

Lee Nell Carter

Arrested in Detroit, Mich., November 20, 1989, by FBI agents and Detroit police. Citizens recognized him during a broadcast of "America's Most Wanted." He was being sought in connection with a shooting spree that left two men injured and one woman dead.

Wardell David Ford

Arrested by FBI agents in Groton, Conn., September 17, 1990. Ford was being sought by the FBI after they say a get-rich-quick scheme resulted in the death of his best friend and an armored car guard.

Armando Garcia

Arrested by Colombian authorities in Cali, Colombia, January 18, 1994. Garcia was charged with multiple counts of murder and drug trafficking.

Rickey Allen Bright

Arrested in Nashville, Tenn., January 7, 1996. Wanted for the kidnapping, rape, and sexual assault of a minor. After Bright was featured on "America's Most Wanted" the show received many calls, and one indicated that the fugitive was playing drums in a Nashville band. Agents and other investigators in the division's Violent Crimes Task Force followed up the tip and found Bright playing at a local hotel with his band. He had changed his appearance and was using an alias. When agents asked for identification, he admitted, "I'm the one you're looking for."

Leslie Isben Rogge

Surrendered to the FBI at the United States Embassy in Guatemala City, Guatemala, May 19, 1996, after an individual saw his photo on the FBI

Tony Ray Amati

Arrested by FBI agents in Marietta, Ga., February 27, 1998. Detectives say Amati, and two accomplices, burglarized a Las Vegas gun shop on May 26, 1996 and stole 75 firearms. Then, cops say Amati and his accomplices went on a thrill-killing spree and gunned down three random citizens during the summer of 1996.

Harry Joseph Bowman

Arrested at a residence in Sterling Heights, Mich., June 7, 1999 by FBI agents and local police. Bowman, president of the Outlaws Motorcycle Club, was tied to a handful of crimes, including murder-for-hire schemes, extortion, and sexual assault.

Eric Franklin Rosser

Arrested in Bangkok, Thailand, August 21, 2001, after arriving at his English teacher

Michael Scott Bliss

Arrested at a hotel in Los Angeles, Calif., April 23, 2002. Bliss was sentenced to 22 years in federal prison on 11 convictions for sexual abuse and child pornography charges.

Chaunson Lavel McKibbins

Arrested without incident at a gas station in Atlanta, Ga., October 29, 2004. McKibbinsA tip from "America's Most Wanted" led the FBI to McKibbins. He was actually arrested before his addition to the "Top Ten" list was announced to the public.

Michael Jason Registe

Arrested at a guest house on the Caribbean Island of St. Maarten on August 27, 2008. Registe had been wanted for two execution-style murders at Columbus State University in Georgia.
