The CW Philly To Broadcast Pennsylvania Derby Live Saturday, September 22nd At 5 p.m.

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The CW Philly will broadcast the 2012 Pennsylvania Derby live from Parx Racing in Bensalem Saturday, September 22nd at 5 p.m. with an encore on Sunday, September 23rd at 12 noon.

The day will be an historic one for Parx Racing. For the first time, the track will run two $1 million races, the Cotillion Stakes and Pennsylvania Derby, on the same card, making the track the only one other than the Breeder's Cup track to do so. In addition, the Cotillion becomes the first Grade 1 race in the history of the track and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Former ESPN Announcer Chris Lincoln will host the telecast along with Dick Jerardi of the Philadelphia Daily News, renowned horseracing broadcaster Caton Bredar along with local sportscaster Bruce Casella.

The Cotillion has grown in stature and has become recognized as a key prep race leading up to the Breeders' Cup World Championships. Once again this year the top three-year-old fillies are lining up to compete in this prestigious race for their chance at the Breeders' Cup World Championships. The Pennsylvania Derby is the marquee event, featuring the best three year old thoroughbreds in the country. Both events have become a gateway to the Breeder's Cup World Championships. Last year's top three finishers all went on to compete in the Breeder's Cup Classic.

CBS 3 (KYW-TV) and The CW Philly (WPSG-TV) are part of CBS Television Stations, a division of CBS Corporation.
