Police said the officers were on their way to a post office at 25th Street and 9th Avenue in Chelsea, where a man was killed by an exploding fire extinguisher.
Tyquan Howard, 16, was found in front of 1550 Sterling Place in Crown Heights just after 1 p.m. with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
