New York Giants: 5 Players That Need To Improve In Second Half Of Season

The New York Football Giants had their worst start since 1976, and the team did not get its first win until Week 7 of the regular season. After beating the Minnesota Vikings on Monday Night Football, the G-men went down to Philadelphia and defeated the Eagles 15-7 to complete their first half at 2-6. With eight games remaining, including three with division rivals, Dallas and Washington, New York still has eyes on a division title. Here are five players who will need to be productive in order for the Giants to compete.

The New York Football Giants hope that earning their first victory of the season on Monday night against the Minnesota Vikings will be a springboard to greater success in the second half of the 2013 NFL season. Meanwhile, the Philadelphia Eagles found out on Sunday that they are not ready for prime time, as the Birds fell to the rival Cowboys 17-3. These two longtime rivals renew pleasantries in Philadelphia this Sunday.

Giants Contain Peterson, Top Vikings 23-7 For First Win

Josh Freeman's debut as a Viking was the boost that the New York Football Giants needed as the G-men snapped their six game losing streak with a 23-7 victory over Minnesota. New York's initial victory of the 2013 campaign was not a thing of beauty, but the Giants were able to hold Adrian Peterson to a mere 28 yards rushing, requiring Freeman to raise the level of his play to a level that the league had not seen in several years. Freeman was not able to come through; completing only 38 percent of his passes on the evening.
