Zoning Changes Paving Way For Development Of Chappaqua Crossing
CHAPPAQUA, NY (WCBS 880) - The New Castle town board has accepted zoning changes that give 60 townhouses, 51 condos, affordable housing units, and business a piece of the old Reader's Digest site in Chappaqua.

"We're not against residential per se. What we are against is residential that's going to squeeze out the commercial," says Rob Greenstein, who has been involved in the controversy. "Let them build twenty affordable units. Let them build forty affordable units there, period. And you will see nobody opposed to it. People are opposed to a dense residential development that's going to squeeze out the commercial."

He says the tax base would benefit by keeping the community's last major commercial tract open for business.
The developer of Chappaqua Crossing has sued the town and some neighbors tell the Journal News they're not done in the courts.
Some of the controversy has been settled but concern over the future of a small town remains.
"[The concern is] whether it's going to open the door to further residential down the road," says Greenstein.
