NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) — Kevin Youkilis has joined Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez, Mark Teixeira and Curtis Granderson on the New York Yankees' disabled list.
The Yankees said Tuesday that Youkilis has a lumbar spine sprain.
Infielder Corban Joseph, who has never played in the major leagues, was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
The 34-year-old Youkilis is hitting .286 with two homers and seven RBIs in 17 games. He has played just once since April 20, going 0 for 3 Saturday.
Youkilis missed 40 games last season. He played in just 120 and 102 games in 2011 and 2010, respectively. The three-time All-Star has never played 150 games in a season in his 10-year career.
