Yonkers Policeman Pleads Guilty To Assault

WHITE PLAINS, NY (WCBS 880/AP) -- A Yonkers police officer has pleaded guilty to assault and falsifying business records.

The county's district attorney's office says 30-year-old Raul Ramirez went to Last Palmas Bar in Yonkers while on duty, assaulted two men and then wrote a false police report to try and cover up his actions.

According to the Journal News, the police department said it was informed Ramirez would also be resigning on Thursday.

Ramirez will be sentenced in August. He faces up to seven years in prison.
