Yonkers Mayor Cuts Official Car Use
YONKERS, NY (CBSNewYork) - Where does a mayor begin when it comes to whittling down a $72 million deficit he inherited from the previous administration?

Well, Yonkers mayor Mike Spano says it starts with taking 40 of the 93 non-emergency city cars off the road.
That move will save the city of about 197,000 people roughly $100,000.
"There will be certain commissioners and department heads. Also, certain members of the mayor's staff that will have cars only if they are required to be on call 24 hours a day," Spano told WCBS 880 reporter Monica Miller on Wednesday.
He's also streamlining the city administration's health care benefits to save an additional $150,000 a year.
"We're all going to have to make some sacrifices here and there," said Spano.
