Yonkers Gets Piece Of WTC Steel For Memorial
YONKERS, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) - A piece of the fallen World Trade Center has found a new home in Yonkers.

"When that beam twisted, lives were lost. When that beam twisted, America was at war," said Mayor Mike Spano on Wednesday.
Spano said the 34-foot rusted steel beam will be erected and installed at Conor Park for families who lost loved ones, like Antonio Coaxum, whose 24-year-old son died in Iraq five years ago.
"To me, it's trying to represent how strong we are. We're not giving up. It happened. We're still remembering and using it as a strength now," Coaxum told WCBS 880 reporter Monica Miller.
Spano said 24 residents never came home on September 11, 2001 and they will never be forgotten.
"It feels like soldiers weren't forgotten about. People at the World Trade [Center] wasn't forgotten about," Coaxum said.
"I hope it becomes a place for the families to come and find at least some comfort," Spano said. "I hope it becomes a place for kids to come and to learn and to know that if we don't learn from our history, we're doomed to repeat it."
