Yonkers Cracks Down On Unscrupulous Second-hand Dealers
YONKERS, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) - The city of Yonkers has tightened regulations to make sure second-hand businesses are all on the up and up, especially those in gold and silver business, WCBS 880's Paul Murnane reported.

Mayor Mike Spano was joined by other city officials when he announced the new regulations on Thursday.
They include record keeping, checking for valid identification, having adequate photographs of good, and holding goods for 14 days before disposal or sale.
"We limit the unscrupulous dealers, I say, from opening up, you know, in the middle of a parking lot," said Yonkers Police Commissioner Chuck Gardner.
Police said at least one business was found buying gold out of the trunk of a car.
They admit there are regulations that may be more lax in other communities, but said this should send a message.
Officials said they had to act because of a rising burglary and robbery caseload.
