Yonkers Auctioning Off City Property To Generate Revenue
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - The city of Yonkers wants to get rid of stuff it doesn't need anymore and make money at the same time, WCBS 880's Paul Murnane reported.

It's part of the Comprehensive Asset Reduction Schedule (CARS) program and this week, the city launched the Yonkers C.A.R.S.tore on eBay.

You can buy a vehicle, including a 2008 Lincoln Navigator seized in a drug case and then used by the police department. It has a rear DVD system.
There are other vehicles, too. They include Fords, Chevrolets, and even an Oldsmobile.
Bidding on the vehicles started at $500.
There is also camera equipment, a golf bag umbrella, a body fat and fitness computer system, a Panasonic Toughbook, and even a traffic light.
"We want to see process within Yonkers where residents get the most amount of money they possibly can," Mayor Mike Spano told Murnane. "Having this venue on the internet, much larger population you're looking at it, I think that's our best chance to get the most dollars."
