Yanks Fans Eye Forecast As Wet Weather Bears Down On Area Ahead Of Jeter's Final Home Game

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Yankees fans were closely watching the forecast on Wednesday night, as a nor'easter was bearing down on the area.

The wet weather could be enough to rain out Derek Jeter's last home game.

Heavy rain is expected to dampen most of Thursday, possibly turning a field of dreams into a nightmare, and robbing Jeter of his last regular season game at home.

"It would just be really depressing," one fan told CBS 2's Hazel Sanchez.

Many people paid more than face value for tickets to witness the historic game. Now, they may not get the memories and all that they invested in return.

"I feel bad for myself. Me and my friends are supposed to go tomorrow. I'm hoping the game is a go," Brendan Henriquez said.

Major League Baseball will make the final call if weather interferes. A representative said that "all efforts will be made to get the game in tomorrow."

If the game is rained out a make-up game could be played on Monday, but only if it has playoff implications.

"Hopefully the weather cooperates, and we try to come out and win a game," Jeter said Wednesday night.

Fans said that the league needs to give it their all for 'The Captain' who gave them his all.

"I think he's done a lot for the sport, and I think they owe it to him to let him play the game," Arthur Lanzer said.
