Yankees Sign Scott Sizemore To Minor League Deal
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The New York Yankees have signed infielder Scott Sizemore to a minor league deal, according to WFAN and CBSSports.com baseball insider Jon Heyman.
Sizemore, who has a history of knee woes, will have a shot to help fill the gaps left by second baseman Robinson Cano, who signed with Seattle this offseason, and suspended third baseman Alex Rodriguez.
Sizemore was 1 for 6 with a double in two games for the Oakland A's last season. The 29-year-old is a career .238 hitter with 14 home runs and 70 RBIs.
On Saturday, an independent arbitrator announced his decision to reduce A-Rod's ban to 162 games, plus the playoffs. The slugger was originally suspended 211 games by Major League Baseball under the joint drug agreement.
The Yankees have also inked infielders Kelly Johnson and Brian Roberts this offseason.
