Yankees Kick Off HOPE Week With Surprise Party For Teen
NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- For the New York Yankees, this week is about more than just baseball. Monday marks the beginning of HOPE Week, a program designed to recognize inspirational people in the community -- including those with physical disabilities.
Today several Yankees surprised 13-year-old quadruple amputee Jorge Grajales of North Haledon with a pool party.
Grajales -- originally from Panama -- was thrilled to be able to spend time with players from his favorite team -- including his hero and fellow Panamanian Mariano Rivera, WCBS 880's Catherine Cioffi reports.

"I've never swam with Yankee players before, Grajales said," "and it's fun swimming with Yankee players."
Rivera was especially pleased to be a part of the HOPE week saying that it was a "privilege and a pleasure" to meet Grajales.
"Jorge is a kid that has no limitations," Rivera told Cioffi.
HOPE (Helping Others Persevere & Excel) week -- which began last year -- will run through Friday. During the week, players, coaches and Manager Joe Girardi will be reaching out to individuals, families and organizations deemed worthy of recognition.
