Yankees' Ichiro Suzuki Named AL Player Of The Week
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Ichiro Suzuki has found the fountain of youth since joining the Yankees.
On Monday, Ichiro was named American League Player of the Week. This marks the fourth time of his career that Suzuki has received the honor.
In 181 at-bats as a Yankee, Ichiro is batting .331 with 5 home runs and 23 RBIs. Suzuki has turned on the jets since pulling on the pinstripes, stealing 12 bases and only has been caught stealing 3 times.
Ichiro has been especially hot during the Yankees' stretch run and is delivering big hits. In his last six games, Suzuki is hitting .600 (15-for-25) with 2 home runs, 5 RBIs, 7 runs scored and six stolen bases.
Manager Joe Girardi has also recently promoted Ichiro the number two spot in the Yankees' order behind Derek Jeter. He will bat second tonight against the Minnesota Twins.
Can Ichiro keep his hot streak going tonight? Let us know...
