Yankees Agree To 1-Year Deal With Eric Chavez
NEW YORK (WFAN) -- On the same day they finalized a one-year contract with DH Raul Ibanez, the Yankees added some needed depth to their bench.
The Yankees agreed to a one-year contract Tuesday with reserve infielder Eric Chavez, CBSSports.com and WFAN's Jon Heyman reports.
The deal, worth $900,000 plus incentives, is major league guaranteed.
Mostly filling in for Alex Rodriguez at third base, Chavez hit .263 with two home runs and 26 RBIs over 58 games last season for New York. The six-time Gold Glove winner also played DH and first base.
The 34-year-old missed nearly three months in 2011 with a broken bone in his left foot.
