WWE Star Darren Young Reveals He's Gay
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A TMZ cameraman stumbled onto a big scoop Wednesday when he asked Darren Young whether a gay professional wrestler could be successful in the WWE.
"Absolutely. Look at me," Young said. "I'm a WWE superstar and to be honest with you, I'll tell you right now, I'm gay. And I'm happy. I'm very happy."
The video man, who approached Young at Los Angeles International Airport, was stunned by the wrestler's candor.
"I don't think it matters," Young said. "Does it matter? Does it matter to you? Does it change what you think about me?"
"Not at all, man," the cameraman said. "In fact, I commend you even more that you would share something so beautiful and personal with me, man."
Young had apparently just landed at LAX for Sunday's marquee SummerSlam event.
"I guess if you want to call it coming out, I really don't know what to say it is," he said. "I'm just letting you know that I'm happy (with) who I am, I'm comfortable with myself, and I'm happy to be living the dream."
