United Water's test plant is up and running to find the most effective and affordable way to purify the Hudson.
"We are confident that we will be able to purify water to meet or surpass all government safe drinking water standards," United Water's Steve Goodsmith told WCBS 880 reporter Catherine Cioffi.
Goodsmith says once they find the best way to purify the water they'll build a $100 million treatment plant in Haverstraw and they expect that plant to be in place by 2015.
