Seen At 11: Looking For A Way To Ramp Up Your Workout? The Answer May Be In The Stars

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- If you're interested in ramping up your workout you might want to check your horoscope.

It seems your sign of the Zodiac may influence what sort of fitness fits you best.

"We're so used to reading our horoscope, we just want to know what's going on right now," astrologer Sandra Sitron said.

As CBS2's Alice Gainer reported, according to Sitron, a deeper look at how the stars align can reveal so much more.

"We'll end up talking about a couple of other planets too and how they relate to your fitness, how you motivate yourself," she said.

Sitron read fitness trainer Ashley Newsome's chart to see how it might influence her workout choices.

"Taurus rules the physical body, and Taurus loves to feel and is very sensory," she explained.

Yoga is Newsome's focus right now, but according to Sitron there's another workout that may suit her even better.

"Weight lifting gives Taurus a good resistance to assert their body against," Sitron explained.

"Every day I want to be physical, and she just affirmed that," Newsome added.

Capricorns -- the sign of the goat -- may want to step up to rock climbing.

"I chose Pilates for Virgo because Virgo is always working on self-improvement," Sitron said.

Sitron said martial arts may speak to the warrior spirit of Aries, but she adds, in all signs there's always room for interpretation.

"Think about each astrology sign as a filter, and you can gain new understanding about the issue by looking through that filter," Sitron said.

"I'm a Sagittarius, the most optimistic sign," personal trainer Kent Edwards said.

According to Sitron, an ideal workout for Edwards may be running, but he prefers a 52-lbs kettle bell.

"Sagittarius is a fie sign, so maybe kettle bells fire up the core and brings in some heat," Sitron said.

For Gemini, the stars point to group fitness, but when comes to a circus arts themed 'lyra' class at Crunch, Aquarius may be a better fit.

"Anything that has the gleam of the unusual is going to be great for Aquarius," Sitron said.

Crunch Fitness Director, Marc Santa Maria said to always have a goal for your workout, even if you have to look at the stars to find it.

"It would be a good source to tap into and see what the natural tendency is," he said.

For Leos out there it's all about sports and play, Cancers love yoga, Libras like to dance, Scorpios spin, and Pisces -- the sign of the fish -- love to be in the water.

Again, this is all open to interpretation. What's most important is to do what makes you feel good.
