Workers, Local Leaders Rally Outside Of Interfaith Medical Center In Bed-Stuy
NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- Workers at Interfaith Medical Center in Bed-Stuy rallied outside of the hospital along with local leaders on Sunday.
The group said that the facility is an important safety net in the community.
Public Advocate Letitia James said that millions of dollars were promised to the center but that they were never delivered for political reasons.
"They are basically holding this hospital hostage. hostage because the board decided not to sell off its parts," James said.
After this week the hospital will not be able to afford to pay its employees.
During his campaign, Mayor Bill De Blasio promised that he would fight to keep the hospital open.
