Contractor Hurt After Falling On Bronx-Whitestone Bridge
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A contractor was injured and trapped on a ledge after falling from the Bronx-Whitestone Bridge Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities say the worker fell roughly six feet while working on the bridge just after 4 p.m.
Extensive delays affected both directions of traffic as FDNY and Emergency Service crews worked to rescue the injured contractor
The contractor was wearing a safety harness at the time of the fall, and was removed to a nearby hospital with back and arm injuries, according to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.
All lanes of traffic have re-opened.
