Cops Search For Homeless Man Who Stabbed Woman Walking On Upper East Side
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - A manhunt in under way for the man who stabbed a 25-year-old woman walking on an Upper East Side sidewalk Tuesday.
Police released surveillance images of the man late Tuesday afternoon.
The woman, identified by sources as Sabatha Tirado, was walking with a friend on 86th Street near 2nd Avenue when they were approached by a man.

The man, believed to be homeless, walked up to Tirado from behind and tried to grab her purse, police said. She apparently put up a fight and he stabbed her in the lower torso, D'Auria reported. He then fled on foot.
The knife was a kitchen knife wrapped around a plastic bag, according to a witness.

Jay Jaiteh chased after the suspect and described him as being a black male in his 40s, unshaven with a messy Afro. He had a brown knapsack and was wearing a brown shirt and blue pants, D'Auria reported.
"And I grabbed him from the back. He had a collar and he twisted himself on the fence and I lose the grip," Jaiteh said.
Tirado works at a nearby waxing salon. Her boss called her a hard-working and nice girl who was simply running an errand this morning. "She was just walking to the bank and she was going to walk back here. That's all she was doing today," Tirado's boss Ann told CBS 2's Sean Hennessey.
After the stabbing, Tirado was asking people to call her father, D'Auria reported. She was taken to an area hospital, and is listed in stable condition.
