Woman Killed In Head-On Thruway Crash
SLOATSBURG, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) - A head-on collision on the New York State Thruway has left a woman dead and her husband hospitalized.
New York State police said Alvin Lapides, 81, of Monsey was driving north in the southbound lanes of Interstate 87 in Rockland County Tuesday night when he struck a Volvo driven by a 17-year-old boy.
The collision happened north of the Ramapo rest area.
Lapides' wife Madeline, 76, who was in the passenger seat, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.
Alvin Lapides was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern with possible internal injuries. No one else was hurt in the crash.
