Teenager Killed In 2-Alarm Fire In Brooklyn
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A teenage girl has died after a fire tore through a three-story building in Brooklyn.
The fire broke out around 5:45 a.m. Friday on the second-floor of a building on East 8th Street near Beverly Road in the Kensington section of the borough, officials said.

The fire quickly spread to the third floor where firefighters found 16-year-old Jasmine Guillaume and her two sisters unconscious, huddled together in a bathroom, CBS 2's Kathryn Brown reported.
"I found a bathroom door that was shut, it appears that the three people that were trapped had tried to hide," firefighter Thomas Bradley said. "At the point that they were probably awoken by the shouts from the second floor, it was already too late in the sense of a civilian reacting to the heavy smoke."
All three were pulled from the building.
Guillaume was pronounced dead at Maimonides Hospital. Her sisters -- ages 24 and 27 -- are listed in critical condition, 1010 WINS' Eileen Lehpamer reported.
"They are very bright girls, all of them" said family friend John Joseph.
The sisters' mother and aunt, ages 57 and 59, were on the first floor and able to escape with only minor injuries. They are listed in stable condition with smoke inhalation.
The two-alarm fire was brought under control around 6:30 a.m. The cause is under investigation.
Shell-shocked family members told CBS 2's Brown that the teenage victim was a standout scholar at St. Xavier High School.
"it's very shocking, very shocking news. I don't know how she feels because she has so many dreams for the children and they are very bright girls all of them," family friend John Joseph said.
Officials said there were no working smoke detectors in the house.
