Woman Killed By LIRR Train In Sayville
SAYVILLE, N.J. (CBS 2/AP) -- The Long Island Rail Road says a woman was struck and killed by a train near the Sayville station.
She was struck by an eastbound train shortly before 8:30 a.m. Friday. The woman was not immediately identified.
The accident caused about a two-hour delay for some trains on the Montauk branch. LIRR spokesman Rich Mendelson says service will be back to normal for the Friday afternoon rush to the Hamptons.
It was not immediately clear why the woman was on the tracks. No passengers were injured.
Another tri-state rail road encountered fatalities Friday, when it was reported that a man was struck and killed by an N.J. Transit train in Hazlet.
