Cops: Woman Arrested For Hitting Cousin With Minivan, Twice
ELMONT, NY (AP/ WCBS 880) - According to police, what happened in Elmont, Long Island could have been much worse.

Sgt. Robert Galgano says 20-year-old Melanie Spanopoulos was driving with her cousin Monday when the two began to argue over a man. When Spanopoulos stopped her minivan, the fight poured out into the street.
"The argument turned into a physical altercation. The woman who was arrested got back into the vehicle and, as she was leaving, actually struck her cousin and, at that point, also, we believe that she backed up and actually hit her a second time."
The victim was left in the middle of the road. A good samaritan took the victim to the hospital with a broken pelvis and leg.
Spanopoulos' attorney says his client is innocent. He says the other woman jumped out of the car while it was moving. Spanopoulos of Franklin Square was arraigned on an assault charge Tuesday. She was released on $5,000 bail.
