Police: Apparent Selden Abduction Was Prank Between Friends
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Police on Long Island say witness claims that a woman was stopped while jogging by one or more people and then forced into a van, were the result of a prank between friends.
Suffolk County Police say witnesses reported the possible abduction at about 3:05 p.m. Friday in Selden.
They say multiple 911 callers reported a dark colored van stopped on a road while the woman was jogging and one or two people got out of it.
They say witnesses said there appeared to be a confrontation and the woman was forced into the van.
On Friday night, police said that detectives had determined the incident was a prank. The subjects did not call police meaning there was no criminality, police said.
Authorities did commend three youths who called 911 when they caw the incident.
Liam Wobler, 15, Sean Martinez, 12, and Anthony Foraci, 12, were praised for providing articulate, observant, and extensive details to detectives.
Police say the woman is white, with blond hair and was dressed in athletic clothing
