Presidential Front-Runners Falling Behind Ahead Of Tuesday's Wisconsin Primary
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork)-- Presidential front-runners appear to be falling behind in the polls ahead of Tuesday's primary in Wisconsin.
The outcome could give Bernie Sanders a boost and slow down Donald Trump's steady march toward the GOP nomination.
Coming off one of the worst weeks of his campaign, Trump ate eggs at a Milwaukee diner, while trying to stick at fork in John Kasich's campaign.
"Now, Kasich should not be allowed to run. He's one for 29, is it one for 29 or one for 28? Whatever it is. And the one place was Ohio where he's governor. It's very unfair because he's taking our votes," Trump said.
Kasich responded on twitter writing: "That's not how our republic works, Donald. We'll keep fighting until someone reaches a majority of delegates."
On stage with Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, Ted Cruz told supporters in Green Bay he's the republicans best shot at winning the White House, CBS2's Brian Webb reported.
"Nominating Donald Trump would be a train wreck and that's not fair to train wrecks," Cruz said earlier this weekend.
A CBS News battleground tracker poll out Sunday showed Ted Cruz six points ahead of Republican front runner Donald Trump in Wisconsin, with John Kasich far behind.
The same poll shows Sanders two points ahead of Hillary Clinton in Wisconsin.
"What they are saying, yes, well, I like Hillary, I like Bernie, but most importantly, we've got to beat Donald Trump and I think they will see that Bernie Sanders is the strongest candidate to do that," Sanders said.
Clinton did not campaign in Wisconsin Sunday, instead making several stops in Brooklyn ahead of New York's primary on April 19th.
Polls show Trump holds commanding leads in New York and Pennsylvania, which holds its primary on April 26th.
