Tri-State Facing Another Round Of Wintry Weather

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- With the Tri-State area less than a week into spring, old man winter is back for a late March visit.
The drive into New York City Wednesday morning was a wet and slushy one with accumulating snow north and west of the city. The snow moved into the area overnight and wet flakes were even falling across NYC just in time for the morning rush.

AccuWeather said snow or mixed precipitation would continue north and west of Interstate 287, where 1 to 3 inches of accumulation is predicted. As much as nine inches of snow could fall further north and west of the city, including Sullivan and Ulster counties.
The snow will began between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m. Wednesday morning, but roads in the city are expected to be just wet. More snow and mixed precipitation will head to the area Wednesday night with some accumulation possible.
"Around the area, here's what we're looking at: variety and lots of it," said CBS 2 meteorologist John Elliott. "Some heavier snow now into parts of Orange County, this will push into Rockland County, Bergen County also."
"On Suffolk County, some more significant rain around Islip – this is going to push farther to the east," he said.

Northern New Jersey also saw snow, while parts of Monmouth and Ocean Counties farther south saw heavy rain, and could possibly see thunderstorms.
Light snow and fog made for slower going on Wednesday's morning commute in the Big Apple. New York City will receive only a coating of snow – up to two inches. North and west of the city will see anywhere from two inches to nine inches.
