Winning Mega Millions Tickets Sold Outside Tri-State
NEW YORK (CBS 2) -- Two lucky ticket-holders were waking up in much better financial shape Wednesday morning after winning that giant Mega Millions lottery jackpot. Unfortunately, you're probably not one of them.
Lottery officials confirmed that two winning tickets were sold, one each in Idaho and Washington State.
The winners will split a $355 million jackpot, or $224 million with the cash value option.
And then comes the taxes.
Money managers have some advice for the winners on what to do with their windfalls. "Do nothing. If you win, do nothing. Sit down and think about it very, very carefully," said Michael Goodman of Wealthstream Advisors.
The jackpot is the fourth largest in U.S. history and the second largest Mega Millions jackpot ever.
Interest was so great that the Mega Millions website was forced to strip down to a streamlined page overnight because of unprecedented web traffic.
The winning numbers are: 4, 8, 15, 25, 47, and Mega Ball 42.
