Winning Mega Millions Ticket Sold On Staten Island
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- There's a tantalizing mystery on Staten Island: who won a $72 million Mega Millions jackpot?
While the winner of Friday's drawing has yet to come forward there's one thing we do know -- the winning ticket was purchased at a ShopRite in New Dorp.
Since word got out, some customers and some store employees have been busy double-checking their own numbers.
"There's a big buzz around the store, really excited to find out who the winner was," district manager Mike Koch said. "It's really great in some small way to be part of changing someone's life. "
If the winner chooses a lump-sum payment, they'll walk away with $28 million after taxes.
The store where the ticket was purchased is also a winner, they'll get a $10,000 bonus.
Last month, seven state workers bought the winning ticket of a $319 million Mega Millions jackpot -- the fifth-largest in the multi-state game's history.
