WCBS 880 Connecticut Bureau Chief Fran Schneidau reports
In Fairfield County, bargain prices at the pump can be had at $3.27.
On average, the price is $3.39 and up.
Gene Gilford of the independent Connecticut Petroleum Association says there is plenty of supply and demand is not an issue.
The upward surge and prices, he says, is linked directly to rising commodity prices as a result of the falling dollar. Gilford the price increase at the pump can't be sustained.
"I think the bubble is going to burst," Gilford tells WCBS 880 Connecticut Bureau Chief Fran Schneidau. "...and I think that it is likely to take place sometime during this winter."
Gilford says we could see a price drop as soon as next month.
