Wild Weather Slams Region, Flooding Streets And Downing Trees

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The damaging and deadly storms that roared through the area Friday night are gone, but today, it's time to deal with the aftermath.

The storms turned deadly in Pittsburg when a flash flood left a mother and two children dead and another woman missing.

Here at home, water rose as high as nine feet in some spots. Lightning lit up the skies in New Jersey as thunder boomed. All the rain flooded streets, even closing some traffic lanes in Paramus.

On Long Island, the storm brought down a huge tree in Elmont across a residential street. Police were forced to close the road.
