Wild Police Chase Rocks Bergen County, One Suspect Still At Large
LEONIA, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A wild chase rocked several communities in Bergen County on Monday night. Police spent the evening searching for a suspect who is wanted in connection with an attempted abduction.
The sun was already down when a parade of police cars came into a residential neighborhood on the heels of a fast moving vehicle with Florida license plates.
"I just saw a speeding car coming by and police cars right behind it," Mike Davis told CBS 2's Lou Young.
Cops told CBS 2 that they were pursuing suspects who were allegedly involved in an attempted abduction in Cliffside Park.
Two people were already under arrest a third ran from the SUV and was believed to be hiding out in the neighborhood along Jones Road where Fort Lee and Leonia share a border.
Heavily armed police units from both towns have been working with State Police to track down the suspects. Helicopters flew overhead and illuminated suburban yards with their searchlights as neighbors were warned to stay indoors until daylight.
Residents were visibly rattled.
"I have nowhere else to go," Alya Shams said.
