Who's That Girl At Jury Duty? It's Madonna!
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Madonna has spent a little time living in the judicial world.
As WCBS 880's Irene Cornell reported, the pop icon reported for jury duty Monday in Manhattan, but her appearance was more of a drop-in photo op for starstruck passersby.
The "Material Girl" arrived 30 minutes late and was hustled into the courthouse at 60 Centre St. by her many handlers and then escorted back out an hour and a half later. While other prospective jurors sat around and were questioned, Madonna didn't even make it into the jury room, spending time in a clerk's office before court officials sprung her.

"I'm proud to do my job," the pop icon said as she left the courthouse.
Court system spokesman David Bookstaver said officials cut her loose because there were plenty of prospective jurors for the day's needs. They also didn't want her presence to create a distraction in the jury-selection process.
He said her appearance alone "really goes to show that everyone gets called."
It's not unheard of for a celebrity to show up for jury duty in New York, and some have even been selected for panels, including Jon Stewart, Robert De Niro and Kristin Chenoweth. Rudy Giuliani even sat on a jury while he was mayor.
Madonna was excused from an earlier jury service date in May.
