What's Next For Gov.-Elect Andrew Cuomo?

NEW YORK (CBS New York) -- Governor-elect Andrew Cuomo will be the 56th governor of New York, the first time in the state's history voters elected both a father and son to that office.

"They are angry that they are paying for an economic recession that they didn't cause. They are frustrated when they look at the dysfunction and degradation of Albany. They're disgusted, and they are right, and what they are saying today is they want reform and they want that government in Albany changed, and that's what they're going to get," Cuomo said.

Cuomo will get the chance to clean up Albany, following his resounding victory over Tea Party upstart Carl Paladino, who lost by a margin of almost two to one.

Paladino told supporters that he was humbled, but that they didn't hear the last of him.

As for New York State's newly-elected leader, this is just the beginning for Cuomo. In addition to a staggering budget deficit, he faces a contentious state legislature, and what could be a complicated working relationship with fellow democrat and Assembly Leader Sheldon Silver.

"We are united. We believe in community. We believe in finding the similarities among people, and we're not going to let you separate us," Cuomo said.

Political analyst Larry Levy said Cuomo brings a wealth of experience to tackle Albany's problems. "Andrew Cuomo learned for years and years at his dad's feet, so this is a guy who, if anybody has a chance to get it done, he does," Levy said.
